sweet Arceus it's been quite some time. :I
yeah, i might be more regular if people actually read this shit.
weeeeeeeell. i'll make an excuse real quick (which, mind you, will be entirely true).
my poor, beloved laptop contracted a virus from Arceus-knows-what a week or two ago. it compromised one of the reboot-scripts, therefore making my computer unable to restart all the way. and so my access to it was cut off. The easiest route would have been to scrub it; however, i didn't want to lose all of my files, drawings, stupid screenshots, etcetera, so i performed every other test and repair script i could .... about nine to twelve times each. naturally, none worked.
so i finally went and clicked the factory state restoration option .... and was both relieved and irked. turns out i have that dell datasafe local backup stuff; it made an emergency folder and saved most of my stuff. from there I just waited a half-hour or so for it to scrub, then re-install basic programs, and voila, my computer was saved and i manged to salvage most of my stuff. i spent quite some time going through and restoring old settings, favourites, etcetera, and am still waiting for PerfectWorld to finish installing, but it's all cool now. :D
so yeah. that's my uberlame excuse. have fun with that.
later. or eventually. whichever is more appropriate. -Cat

i love cats. i LOVE CATS.
i guess consistent posting isn't as required, as my dear friend has failed to make her weekly blog WEEKLY.
not that i'm mad, if i sound like i am. I just thought i'd put that out there as an excuse. no accusations.
not that anyone reads this, of course. oh well.
meh. later? -Cat

I can eat a hedgehog. Watch.
so now that my only real interest on this website has resumed her postings, i guess i had better get to updating this thing too. not that anyone reads it, but i do hate to feel like a hypocrite.
.... Of course, it would help if i had something interesting enough to ramble about on the internet.
sometimes i feel like a complete fool for posting this stuff .... but again, i honestly doubt anyone reads this.
later. maybe i'll talk next time .... -Cat

LEEEEERROOOY JEEEENKINS
the world revolves around our global communications network.
so many people i know would wither and die if i disconnected them from their phones and computers. no texting, no facebooking, no twittering .... all of that, gone. we are all so addicted to these programs. we have to constantly be in touch; people text each other all day, even when they are only a room apart. to be honest, it's beginning to make me sick. i know i take part (obviously), but i'm not dependent on it. if i were to be disconnected, it would be a definite inconvenience, but i wouldn't be panicked or anything. i could certainly live without it.
could you? -Cat

Arceus help us.
so i was looking at the summary of the latest pokémon movie, "Zorua: Master of Illusions", and i noticed something. it says that celebi has returned after vanishing for twenty years, but Ash was the last one to see celebi according to "Pokémon 4 Ever". this must mean that Ash is actually somewhere in his late thirties or early forties. so why is he a) every bit as youthful in appearance as day one and b) still described as a "brash young trainer"? this also means that Brock (who was present for that adventure) is also in his early forties, as well as Misty, although she regrettably departed from the team to be replaced by Dawn. Either Nintendo's idea of the aging process is skewed, or people on Pokéarth just don't age.
i don't know. i suppose it'll remain an eternal mystery. later. -Cat

by the wombat's knee!
Destiny Bond Battle Team now covers the Pokemon TGC as well as the games. Just about the whole franchise, really. only two or three components, after all.
I used the energy from my Stormshaper deck to supplement my new, original deck, unofficially titled Flash Fire. Hopefully i'll get some ponytas from my partner sometime soon .... i have just enough spaces for three ponytas and two rapidashes. that'll top everything off, i think. then all i'll have to do is test it.
other than that .... well, our pipes froze, but we eventually thawed them. now they're wrapped in towels we stole from the gym. airports are shutting down their flight schedules due to high winds and moody weather, with lots of ice on the roads and runways.
but it was kind of funny to watch several people slip on a puddle of ice.
that's all for now, i suppose. later. -Cat

If i wasn't so puerile ....
we took a test today. it wasn't techincally a REAL test, per se, but it was a test.
and my finishing early resulted in me having to sit in silence for two and a half hours. naturally.
of course they didn't let me draw. like i was going to pass a note to someone i could only reach by getting up and walking over to them. i was in the back of the class, too.
.... but i had to entertain myself somehow.
in the end, that took the form of me slowly typing out the full Pokemon theme song on my calculator.
whoever next turns that calculator on will be confronted with an hour and a half's worth of typed-up lyrics. joy.
i hate myself.

Operation Cleffa still in motion; commence Operation Breeding Program?
hnng, i'm so nerdy it hurts.
i found a formula for determining a pokemon's individual worth (IV). this pretty much tells what kind of stats it has, in comparison to others of its species as well as other pokemon in general. the IV is used in generating the pokemon's gender and likelihood of being shiny.
the IV ranges from numbers 0 to 31. while actual stats will soar well beyond that, these are more of ratings. unless the species is all one gender (such as latios or jynx) or genderless (beldum, deoxys), then the attack stat us used to determine gender. for example--species A has a pre-set number for determining gender based off of attack stat: 8. a specific individual's attack is equivalent to 5; therefore, the game will generate it as a female. a different individual's attack stat is 8; this one is guaranteed to be a male. due to these calculations, it is impossible to capture a female with a high attack stat, unless it is a member of an all-female species such as smoochum or jynx.
All stats are taken into account when determining an individual's likelihood of being generated as a shiny pokemon. to achieve this status, the individual's defense, speed, and special stats must all be set at a ratng of ten; the attack stat may be set at 2, 3, 6, 7, 10, 11, 14, or 15. however, the likelihood of this lineup occuring is 1 out of 8192, the present day odds.
when nintendo hit generation three, they overhauled the system with the introduction of natures, which adds or subtracts ten percent of various stats as well as affecting the pokemon's ability(s) as it evolves (especially if you trade it to a newer game with more abilities). at this poitn the IV system was bumped up from 1-15 to 0-31, as previously used, which is the reason that you cannot trade pokemon from a generation two game to a generation three game, and vice-versa. the game simply would not know what to do with the pokemon.

Commence Operation Cleffa.
so i reorganized my pokemon cards today, as i always do once or twice a year.
kinda put me in a pokenerd-ish mood, but .... well, i don't have a whole lot of SERIOUS pokemon fans to chat with, or any means of contacting them anyways. also, i realized i didn't have much to do. even checking out the pokemon official website wasn't that interesting.
i think i'm just craving a little extra pokemon kick right about now.
maybe i should just go memorize some more crap or something? or make some tables. i really just don't know, something pokemon-ish (not counting the games) ....
i think if i ever have children, i'm going to give them a cleffa or pikachu-based wardrobe, and smother them in pokemon. ugh.

i ate a pencil sharpener.
for you artists out there (or artist, i should say), i'd like to say that i finished my artists' trading cards. there's only four since i screwed up on the fifth one, but they're pretty good, i daresay.
other than that, i attended a steampunk convention with said artists, and .... well, that's all.
so not much to say right about now. joy.
